The 24 team Division II football bracket was released today. Play starts next week and will continue until the champion is crowned on December 15 2007. The defending champion is Grand Valley State. The brackets are below.

Northwest Region
5. Ashland (8-1) at 4. Central Washington (8-2)
Winner plays 1. Nebraska-Omaha (10-0)

6. Winona State (10-1) at 3. North Dakota (9-1)
Winner plays 2. Grand Valley State (10-0)

Southwest Region
5. Mesa State (10-1) at 4. Abilene Christian (9-2)
Winner plays 1. Chadron State (11-0)

6. Washburn (8-3) at 3. West Texas A&M (11-0)
Winner plays 2. NW Missouri State (9-1)

Northeast Region
5. Bryant (8-2) at 4. Southern Connecticut State (8-3)
Winner plays 1. California (PA) (11-0)

6. Indiana (PA) (8-2) at 3. West Chester (9-2)
Winner plays 2. Shepherd (9-1)

Southeast Region
5. Albany State (GA) (8-2) at 4. Catawba (10-1)
Winner plays 1. Valdosta State (9-1)

6. Shaw (8-3) at 3. Delta State (9-1)
Winner plays 2. North Alabama (9-1)

The winner of the Northwest Region will play the winner of the Southwest Region while the Norteast and Southeast region winners will play each other in the semifinals. In The Bleachers will have the weekly results and bracket update, so keep checking back.

    GVSU has been ranked #1 all year and gets a 2 seed??
    Can this be correct?

    Cool if we get North Dakota here though …

    I agree Ken. I watched the ESPNU feed of the brackets and it was explained that the seeding people thought that Nebraska-Omaha played in a tougher conference than Grand Valley State. That is why GVSU got the #2 seed. I played in the GLIAC and I find it hard to believe.

    North Dakota was the last team to beat GVSU.
