I hate the Lions, but I couldn't turn off the draft when Campbell started in. Great interview and package by ESPN.

Lou's comments are great to hear. The Army is making a good decision with this new program, advertising and marketing is an important aspect of the US Military and allowing athletes like Caleb to play in the NFL and do PR tours for the Army is a great way for him to give back to the Army while also playing the sport he loves, it's a win / win scenario for the Army.

It was great to read Lou's comments. He is spot on. The Army and Caleb will take lots of heat for this decision. However, before anybody casts any stones they should know a few more details. Currently 1 or 2 cadets and midshipmen a year earn Rhodes Scholarships. A few more earn Marshall or Fulbright scholarships, while others into lesser known graduate programs. Cadets and Midshipmen who earn these honors are held in great esteem by all. However, these cadets and midshipmen spend a minimum of 2 years in the graduate programs. Many dont where their uniform for that time. Their respective services essentially "loose" that officer for 2 years. At that point, they can apply to seperate with zero active duty or reserve commitment. A great many do and enter the private sector. Caleb just earned his "Rhodes Scholarship." Its great and as a US Naval Academy graduate I am proud of him, and hope the best for him. I agree with the new policy. I know the character and caliber of the youngmen that attend and graduate the academy. Caleb's actions in the NFL will bring further credit to the Army, West Point, and the long grey line. The service academies produce more than military leaders. They are leadership institutions. We produce leaders for America. We specialize in combat, but what is taught transcends the private and public sector. Congratulations Caleb! Kevin
