For the first time since Mid-August, college football fanatics have no football to watch this weekend. As excited as I get for bowl season, it is some what bitter sweet because I know the end of the year is right around the corner.

She gets my
vote for #1

However, the most prestigious individual award will be given out on Saturday, and for the first time in a few years it looks as if it is a toss-up. I sat down last night to try and decide who I would give the Heisman Trophy to, and when I looked at Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, and Colt McCoy, a case can be made why each deserves the trophy.

While we all know that winning the Heisman does not guarantee you success in the NFL, nor is it a ticket to a National Championship, however, it is a great award to have under your belt.

Tebow does not have the numbers he had last year when he won, but the mere fact that he carries the Gators’ offense each week with his arm, legs, and incredible leadership abilities is a positive. On the other hand Sam Bradford did not have a bad game the whole year and put up the best statistics. Finally, Colt McCoy led the Longhorns in passing and rushing and had in my opinion the most impressive stat of them all…a 77% completion percentage. That’s why if I had a vote I would vote: 1. McCoy, 2. Bradford, and 3. Tebow, which is a little different than the Heisman Pundit’s latest Poll.

The BCS Bowl show occurred on Sunday and by now we all know that Florida and Oklahoma will play in the title game. I don’t really have too much to gripe about with their selections; one could make a case for Texas, but I have a feeling that if Florida wins and Texas beats Ohio State handily, the AP might want to be different and crown their own champion. My biggest gripe is that coaches whos jobs could be on the line or the fact they want to get more money for their conference are allowed to vote and have a say who goes to the BCS Games. Seems like Bo Pelini is getting a little flack.

As the for the country as a whole, the championship game wasn’t the biggest complaint about the BCS…but you could have fooled the states of Texas and Ohio.

The Rose Bowl is another intriguing game in my opinion, even though USC has opened up as a 10 point favorite over Penn State. Both Pete Carroll and Joe Paterno have a lot of respect for each other, and both are known to be great when given weeks to prepare for a game. But I wonder if USC fans are a bit concerned that their own offensive coordinator will be still coaching the game, but officially the new head coach at Washington?

Speaking of new coaches, Syracuse still doesn’t have one. Skip Holtz is still on the short list, however, a few new names have popped into the picture.

We will have a new champion in the FCS ranks, as Appalachian State lost last week. Appalachian State fans are dealing it the best way they know how, saying no one will attend the championship game now that they aren’t in it.

Finally, the regular season might be over, but the Podcasts are not. On tonight’s In The Bleachers’ Podcast, Adam and I will pick some award winners and talk about the BCS, so stop by and give us your two cents.

The Red River Shootout is usually a big game in college football each year, but this year it is even bigger. Both Texas and Oklahoma are ranked in the top 5 and the winner of this game will have a huge upper hand in winning the Big 12 South Division. It could all come down to quarterback play.

Join Adam and I tonight at 9pm as we talk about the Red River Shootout as well as the other big games of this week. The other big games include LSU traveling to play Florida, Colorado at Kansas, Michigan State at a surprisingly undefeated Northwestern, Penn State at Wisconsin, South Carolina at Kentucky, Clemson at Wake Forest, Oklahoma State at Missouri, Notre Dame at North Carolina, and Tennessee at Georgia.

We will also do some more stock up and stock down for teams, players, and coaches. Finally you won’t want to miss what we think the biggest surprises and stories are so far after 6 weeks of action.

With conference play in full swing all around the country, we are in a treat with a lot of good games this week. For the first time in quite a long time the Georgia Bulldogs will leave the south to travel to play Arizona State in the west. With Arizona State’s loss last week, some of the luster is off this game, but Georgia did not look spectacular in their win against South Carolina.

On tonight’s In The Bleachers Live, (which will take place at 9:30 tonight) I am joined by Adam Nettina again and we will talk a little about conference strength. Even with USC’s convincing win last week, the conference as a whole did not look good. Where as the Big 12 continues to look better and better each week.

Our games of the week are West Virginia @ Colorado, Arizona @ UCLA, Boise St @ Oregon, Florida @ Tennessee, Georgia @ Arizona St., Iowa @ Pitt, LSU @ Auburn, Vanderbilt @ Mississippi St, Va. Tech @ UNC, and Wake Forest @ Florida St.

One of those men will be smiling at the end of the night on Saturday, but the question is, which one? The Trojans are a hefty double-digit over the Buckeyes after they struggled last week against the Ohio Bobcats. A loss by Ohio State would end their BCS title hope essentially, because you are not going to find anyone giving them sympathy after losing two straight title games. But a win could be the momentum they need to win the Big Ten title a 3rd consecutive year.

On tonight’s In The Bleachers Live, I am joined by Adam Nettina and we will talk about last week’s action and look ahead to this week’s games. Lisa Horne of Foxsports.com and the Bleacher Report is scheduled to join us. She is well connected in Southern California and can give us the low down on the big game.

Our other games of the week are North Carolina at Rutgers, Auburn at Miss. St., Georgia at South Carolina, Georgia Tech at Va. Tech, Kansas at South Florida, Michigan at Notre Dame, Oregon at Purdue, UCLA at BYU, Wisconsin at Fresno St., and of course Ohio St. @ USC. A much better slate of games from last week.

Last week everyone was 0-0 and each team has dreams of BCS Championships dancing in their heads, but after Week 1 there are quite a few teams picking up the pieces from a disastrous start. On tonight’s In The Bleachers Live, I am joined by Adam Nettina and we will talk about last week’s action and preview the games for Week 2.

Fresh out of class at the University of Pittsburgh, Jeff Brancolini will be back to give the Chopshop version of Week 1.

It is time to lay it all out on the line. Everyone has had seven months to pore over magazines, internet sites, and blogs, so tonight on In The Bleachers Live is the night we make our bold predictions on what is going to happen in the 2008 College Football Season.

On tonight’s show each guest will pick the Conference Winners of the ACC (Coastal & Atlantic), SEC (East & West), Big Ten, Big East, Pac Ten, Big 12 (North & South), Heisman Champion, BCS Championship game and winner. I will tally all of these predictions and post them on the blog. At the end of the season we’ll find out who has the clearest crystal ball.

Tonight on In The Bleachers Live, I have four people coming on to talk about my favorite BCS Conference, the Big Ten. Ohio State is the clear cut favorite, but we will find out what other teams could surprise us and maybe upset the Buckeyes and their chance for a share of at least the last 4 Big Ten Titles.

My first guest Adam Jacobi from Black Heart Gold Pants will be joining me around 9:25pm EST. I will ask him where he comes up with all the great Joe Pa material he posts on the site, and if we have time talk about the Iowa Football.

At 9:40pm EST, Brian Cook from MGOBLOG will call in. Brian is one of the first bloggers on the interwebs, and most importantly a Michigan fan. We’ll find out all about their new offense and maybe find out if Penn State can actually beat Michigan this year and break a 11 year drought against the Wolverines.

Finally at 9:55pm Adam Nettina comes on to talk about his favorite BCS Conference. Adam writes at College Football News and is always a great guest when he comes on the show.

A night earlier than usual but tonight on In The Bleachers Live, I along with my three guests will take a look at the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma and Missouri look to have a date in the Big 12 Title game, but I think teams like Texas, Texas Tech, and Kansas will have a say in the matter.

My first guest Big Head from MizzouRAH will be joining me around 9:10pm EST. We will talk about the Tigers’ chances not only in the Big 12, but in the BCS title picture. I am sure sometime during that time Big Head will profess his undying love for Chase Daniel.

At 9:25pm EST, a In The Bleachers Podcast veteran, Jon Johnston from Corn Nation will join me. We will talk a lot about how the Huskers will adjust with new head coach Bo Pelini, and what to look forward to from them this season. Plus we will also ask Jon about the book he co-authored called Sea of Red.

Not to totally ignore the Big 12 South, at 9:45pm EST, Peter Bean will join me from Burnt Orange Nation and the EDSBS Live podcast. I’d like to talk to Peter a bit about Colt McCoy and if the Longhorns fixed their issues in the secondary from last year.
